Winter Checklist

Visual Check-over.
Spend some time checking over your fence; you are looking for signs of damp/rot, damage, loose or missing feather edge boards/rails.

Rotten Posts
Rotten posts are pretty easy to spot; if you check the ground level of your timber post it will be darker in colour, look rotten/damaged and it’s highly likely that the timber post will be leaning over. It is so much easier to fix a broken timber post than to wait for them to go completely and require a replacement or even a replacement fence. You can prop up the broken post for the short term and then look to have a spur fitted to reinforce the timber post and add help to preserve the longevity of the fence overall.

Protective Finish
In our opinion, it’s always worth using a protective timber product to help with moisture ingress, rot, mould and mildew, thus extending the overall life of the product.
